FAQs
Q: Is this the MalcoEdge Hydraulic Tube Bender, HYB for soft copper only? A: The HYB can bend soft copper, aluminum, and thin-wall stainless steel, making it versatile for use in plumbing, floor heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning, hydraulic systems, refrigerator tubing, and automotive repairs. Q: The knob on the MalcoEdge Hydraulic Tube Bender says on and off, what is this referring to? A: On refers to the hydraulic circuit being open, and allowing hydraulic fluid passing out to the reservoir. Off refers to the hydraulic circuit being closed. When the hydraulic circuit is closed, the system will build pressure when the handle is cycled. Q: Can I bend hardened copper with MalcoEdge tube benders? A: No, we only recommend using MalcoEdge tube benders on soft drawn copper. Soft drawn copper typically is purchased in rolls. Q: Do I need to lubricate the tubing when bending with the MalcoEdge tubing benders? A: Yes, we recommend using light machine oil to reduce the chances of kinking. Q: I must bend soft copper in 2 directions, what MalcoEdge bender do you recommend for this application? A: We recommend using the MalcoEdge mechanical benders, TBMS in this situation. Our mechanical bender has the ability to bend in 2 directions. We call the components that make this possible our reverse bending adaptor. Q: Do the MalcoEdge dies for the hydraulic bender, HYB work in the mechanical bender, TBMS and vice versa? A: No, MalcoEdge hydraulic dies are HYB and TBMS dies are not interchangeable. Q: Is tubing measured on the outside or inside diameter of the product? A: Tubing is measured on the outer diameter of the tube.
