FAQs
Q1: What do I do if the seals on my Easy Seal hoses leak?
A1: Malco sells replacement seals so you can replace them in the field and extend the life of your hoses.
Q2: Does hose length matter when pulling a vacuum?
A2: Yes. Shorter hoses with a larger diameter — such as a 3/8″ MalcoEdge Turbo Flow hose — are more efficient when pulling a vacuum.
Q3: Can I use the same hoses with a variety of refrigerants?
A3: MalcoEdge hoses are compatible with popular refrigerants. However, we do not recommend using multiple refrigerants in the same hoses unless you flush them first using a product like ACE Powerflush. To prevent cross-contamination from oils left in the hoses, we recommend dedicating separate hoses to specific refrigerants.
Q4: Do I need to flush and clean my equipment when switching between refrigerants?
A4: Yes. Some refrigerants use different lubricants and cannot be mixed. As a best practice, flush hoses, manifolds, and other components between services to prevent cross-contamination. We recommend using ACE Powerflush when switching refrigerants.
Q5: What are the working and burst pressures for these hoses?
A5: Working pressure is 800 PSI. Burst pressure is 4,000 PSI.
Q6: What do I do if my hoses engage a Schrader valve too early or not enough?
A6: The core depressors are threaded. Simply adjust the height by screwing the core depressor further in or out to get the right engagement depth.
Q7: Do MalcoEdge Safe Seal hoses vent to atmosphere when disconnecting from the service port?
A7: No. When the core depressor is retracted, it seals the refrigerant inside the hose.
Q8: Are the threads on the refrigerant hose right-hand or left-hand threads?
A8: The hoses use right-hand threads. An adapter is required when working with left-hand thread refrigerant tanks.
